Overview

Psychology aims to develop students’ understanding of human behaviour, including Memory, Social Influence, Attachment, Relationships, as well as theories regarding psychological abnormality (Phobias, Depression, OCD, Schizophrenia, Addiction etc.). Psychology is currently only available as an option subject at A-Level.

Years 12 and 13

Students follow the AQA Psychology (7182) specification, full details for which are available here. The course focuses on The different approaches to explaining human behaviour, including Biological, Behavioural, Cognitive, Developmental and Psychodynamic. Students will study specific topics from each of those approaches, as well as considering the issues and debates that arise from research, as well as the specific research decisions that psychologists are faced with when designing their research.
