Inclusion
Inclusion
At Bourne Grammar School, we are committed to creating an inclusive, supportive and welcoming environment where every student feels valued, respected and able to achieve their full potential.
Our school vision, “Inspiring and empowering our community to believe, grow and succeed together for a bright future,” is at the heart of our approach to inclusion.
We recognise that every student is unique and that some young people may experience additional barriers to learning, participation or wellbeing. We believe that these barriers should never prevent students from accessing the opportunities available to them.
Inclusion is everyone’s responsibility. Through high-quality teaching, effective pastoral care, strong partnerships with families and a wide range of enrichment opportunities, we aim to ensure that all students feel a genuine sense of belonging within our school community.
Our Six Inclusion Groups
We are committed to ensuring that every student feels valued, supported and able to achieve their full potential, regardless of the barriers they may face or the individual needs they may have.
Our approach to inclusion encompasses all students, but we place particular emphasis on the following groups, recognising that they may benefit from additional support, reasonable adjustments or targeted intervention:
- Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Pupil Premium (PP)
- Looked After Children (LAC)
- Previously Looked After Children (PLAC)
- Young Carers
- English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Our aim is to identify and remove barriers to learning, participation and achievement, ensuring that every student has an equal opportunity to thrive academically, socially and personally.
Our Inclusion Strategy 2026–2027
Our Inclusion Strategy sets out how we will continue to strengthen inclusive practice across Bourne Grammar School.
- Developing consistently high-quality inclusive and adaptive teaching.
- Improving the environment and effectiveness of our Inclusion Base.
- Providing targeted academic, pastoral and wellbeing support where required.
- Strengthening students’ sense of belonging and wellbeing.
- Increasing participation in clubs, societies, educational visits and wider enrichment opportunities, particularly for disadvantaged students.
We regularly review our approaches using student feedback, attendance, attainment, progress and participation data to ensure that our provision continues to meet the needs of our school community.
