BGS Ski Trip 2026

Imaan Adil Zaka – Year 9
The ski trip was an amazing experience which I can’t recommend enough!
We went by coach to Passo de Tonale, Italy, which was almost a 24-hour journey (including our ferry). The town we went to was really small and cute; me and my friends walked around the whole town in an hour!
As a person who hasn’t ever skied before, I was automatically placed in the beginner group. Skiing is one of the sports where, if you get the hang of it, you really begin to enjoy it. It only took me a couple of days to learn the basics, and the rest was cake! You also never ever get bored on the trip. There were so many different evening activities that our teachers had planned for us to enjoy. You also make so many new friends.
I was sharing a room with some other girls who I knew, but never really talked to. By the end of the trip, we became really good friends.
To sum it all up, the ski trip is definitely worth it!
Haasika Vishnuprabhu – Year 8
This year 80 students went to Passo de Tonale, Italy, as part of a school trip to go skiing or snowboarding.
We did multiple other activities as well, such as bum boarding - we went to the mini slopes nearby before all taking turns bum boarding (some of us knocking each other down).
We did karaoke; we sang a lot of songs, including the teachers and danced around, even making a mosh pit - by the end we had all lost our voices.
On pizza night - we all picked a certain pizza and had to do a fun quiz based on various things, such as name the monuments.
Lastly, we visited the town. Here we bought souvenirs for our family and friends and had a great time eating ice cream. Lots of great memories were made and we hope to continue this on in the following years.
Doogie Shorrock – Year 10
I was one of the few students in our school who was lucky enough to take part in this year’s school ski trip at Passo Tonale, Italy, and I found it to be an amazing and eye-opening experience enabling me to see things that I otherwise may have never seen before!
Firstly, when we arrived from the 24-hour bus trip (which was not a highlight, apart from the ferry fish and chips!), we were allowed to experience the town which neighboured the slopes. This town was very pretty with many light displays and offered many nice ice cream shops, which made delicious waffles!
On the first day of skiing, we were put into groups, according to our skiing level, of which I was the lower advanced group. The instructor was very pleasant and as a group we had a very fun time in the afternoon skiing down the smaller slopes which helped us to gain our confidence in how to ski on these particular slopes.
The next day (Monday) we started off skiing from a ridge between the two mountains. From here we were able to get a full run down with only a few stops to allow for advice on skiing technique or due to the occasional tumble (usually from the teachers in our group!)
A much-needed lunch break would then follow for food and big snowball fights with each other. This was hilarious.
Once we got back to the hotel after the long days of skiing, many social activities had been arranged. My favourites of which was the karaoke night, closely followed by pizza night.
There were also medals awarded each day by the teachers to the best skiing students in each group.
Throughout the week my group worked up to the most challenging slopes, until eventually we got to what was my personal favourite. This was a huge glacier separate to the main mountain which consisted of mainly black runs. Despite the difficulty, we only had a few falls with the worst being from our teacher who slid a long distance down the slope without skis (thankfully no big injuries occurred), but luckily the rest of us completed the slopes easily.
On the final day the weather was extremely snowy, which meant all the slopes were covered in fresh powder, which allowed us to fall softly just for fun due to the amazing texture of the snow. This was also definitely one of my favourite days.
I would highly recommend this trip to anyone and everyone as it offers a truly amazing experience which will teach you many new skills, and provide you with an amazing time with lots of laughs.
Hetty Bell – Year 9
Our recent school ski trip was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, learning, and plenty of fun. Over the course of the trip, we spent our days on the slopes developing our skiing skills, from practising the basics to confidently tackling more challenging runs. The teachers were incredibly supportive and helped everyone improve just as much as our instructors.
Beyond skiing, the trip was a great chance to spend time together, try new things, and build confidence. Evenings were just as enjoyable, with group activities, games, and time to relax after busy days in the snow. We enjoyed fun quizzes, a delicious pizza night, and an incredible karaoke evening filled with amazing songs and lots of laughter. The highlight was the conga we all formed and also the big finale, when everyone came together to perform a Spice Girl song with all the teachers joining in too. It was a brilliant moment that brought everyone together and had the whole group cheering and singing along. We also went bum boarding, which was chaotic in the best way. We went flying down the slope, nearly taking everyone out along the way, and laughing the entire time.
On our final evening, we celebrated the trip with ice cream, making the perfect ending to an amazing week.
One of the best parts of the trip was how well everyone got along. People were friendly, supportive, and encouraging, whether helping each other on the slopes or just spending time together in the evenings. It created a really positive atmosphere and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Throughout the trip, everyone pushed themselves and tried their best, showing determination and resilience as they learned new skills and took on challenges. It was amazing to see how much everyone improved and how proud people were of what they achieved.
The trip helped us grow in independence, teamwork, and resilience, and we certainly made memories that will stay with us for a long time. A huge thank you to the teachers and staff who organised everything and made the experience possible. It was truly an amazing trip that we will never forget.
