BGS is a Voice 21 Oracy Centre of Excellence!

This prestigious national award celebrates our commitment to developing students' oracy; the speaking, listening and communication skills that enable young people to express themselves confidently and succeed both in school and beyond. Having been a Voice 21 Oracy School since September 2024, this recognition marks an important milestone in our oracy journey.

Achieving Centre of Excellence status within only 2 years recognises that we are leading the way in delivering high quality oracy education and sharing best practice with more than 1,200 Voice 21 Oracy Schools across the country. To receive this award, we demonstrated excellence across five key areas: our school's vision, culture, curriculum, teaching and learning, and the impact of oracy on our students.

By placing oracy at the heart of teaching and learning in every subject, we are equipping our students with the confidence and skills to communicate effectively in a wide range of contexts, from collaborative classroom discussions to formal presentations and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and would like to thank our staff and students for their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment in making oracy such an integral part of life at our school.
