House Maths Challenge – Mr M Farrow

This term saw the return of the highly competitive House Maths Challenge. Every student in every Form in Years 7 – 11 took part.
Each Form was split into teams and all received a set of questions with the challenge to answer as many correctly as they could during the time allowed. Each question answered correctly added to their House’s total, and the House with the highest average score will ultimately be crowned champion. There was intense mathematical discussion and competition throughout the week, with heated debates on how to approach the problems, and it did not matter what year, set, or Form you were in; everyone played their part.
Whilst students will be keen to find out who won they will need to wait until next term in their upcoming House assemblies to find out which House emerged victorious. Our BGS Student House Captains were vital in the admin and marking of the many answer sheets, giving up their time for a “working lunch” together with the staff House Leaders.
The level of challenge across the questions varied, and at BGS we prize those who are ambitious, determined, and inquisitive.
